Sneak Preview

The Village Squares Quilters quilt show is quickly approaching and there is still so much to do.  The title of this guild challenge quilt is “Dad Would Be Honored”.  The front will remain a mystery for a few more days…7 to be exact.  I’ll post the front on the 14th after the guild meeting where we vote on all of the challenge quilts that are submitted.

Here’s the center of the quilt.  I used silver thread on the front and the back.  Mary Anne reminded me of one very important thing with this quilt – I need a sleeve on it.  This is one of those quilts that memory plays a very important part and I don’t want pins in it for the weekend.

Here’s the back view of “Splat” – the second challenge quilt.  Splat is a technical term that Libby Lehman uses for “Thread Play”.  All I can say is that sometimes having fun in the midst of craziness provides a bit of balance and “Splat” is the result.

This quilt is a challenge quilt with the Pelham Quilters.  We were each given a square of batik with a fish on it and had to use it in a quilt block.  Renee pieced it, I quilted it and Mary Anne put the binding on.   I think Mary Anne had the most challenging part.

I like the back as much as the front.  The fabric is from Ranae Merrill’s Blank Quilting Fabric Line.

Ranae has a couple of fabric lines that I like.

Well, that’s all for now.  I have to go get ready for a meeting this morning!

Happy Quilting!
