Here I am, more than 20 years post high school using Algebra and Geometry every day as a quilter. Yep, every day, I can hardly believe it myself, with how hard I found Algebra 2 of the 4 years I took it. (I failed Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 and had to take them a second time!) Geometry came amazingly easy to me and I’m grateful I can figure out the lengths of triangles, rectangles, hexagons and loads of other things. 
The other day as I worked on a pattern for Benartex I discovered a huge problem. Using my understanding of Geometry and Algebra I was able to not only figure out the problem but describe the problem and let them now how much of a difference there would be in the end result. Now I get to figure out all of the math to rewrite the directions. I’m enjoying the challenge and enjoying the problem solving.

Ha, I had to laugh when I read your blog. I was terrible in High School math. Suffered terribly through Algebra 1. And now as a quilter I use math all the time. I don’t think I could do what you did, but I congratulate you on being able to figure out the problems. We need someone like you to help us out.

I love that you thanked your teacher. I dedicated my first quilt book to my 5th grade teacher for always encouraging me to write and told me I would write a book one day.
