Gallimaufry is here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I came home from work the other night my sweetie made sure I went to get the mail.  He knew I’d be soooo excited to see what arrived.

“Gallimaufry” is here!

Being asked to have a quilt as cover art on a CD is so exciting.

I’ve enjoyed the process from thinking this was a joke to having “Gallimaufry” here in my hands and sharing it with friends.

When I started “Twilight in the Bronx” this quilt felt adventuresome for me.  Perhaps because it’s so out of my norm that I felt this quilt has a life of it’s own outside of me and I get to be the participant in its journey.

The images that the guys picked for the cd are some of my very favorite bits of the quilt.

These bits are where I said “what if I did this” and “what if I changed the color here” and “what if”.

This kind of “what if” thinking was so much fun.

I’m also very, very grateful to Sandra who said to me the first time she saw the quilt, “Teri, you’re hiding your quilting”.

I had the opportunity to listen and let this quilt go in a different direction.

Going in this different direction has been such a joy.

Having the quilt win a 2nd place ribbon at the Dutchess Heritage Celebration.

Developing an advanced machine quilting class and having the opportunity to have the immense pleasure of having my students settle into machine quilting where they just relax and start quilting.

In fact one of my students just shared that with me last night and I get so giddy when they share this experience with me.  This is a gift that I will cherish.

The music on here is quite delightful.  Head on over to Generation Jones myspace page and take a look at whats on here.

My sweetie did the quilt photography and is credited in the notes on the back cover.  How cool is that!

Happy Quilting!

Teri

PS – if you’re interested in the CD it can be purchased through Generation Jones myspace page.  It’s $15 plus shipping.

  1. OMG, Teri!!! This is so cool! I’m going to go buy it just to have your cover art. I am so thrilled for you and to know that we’re friends.
I know you’ll be having a great day!

  2. I know you are ecstatic and well as I am for you! Congrats Teri….very exciting times for you.
Love the meaning of the CD name: gal·li·mau·fry/ˌgaləˈmôfrē/Noun
    1. A confused jumble or medley of things.
    2. A hash made from diced or minced meat

Ok…forget about the minced meat thing and the confused jumble…let’s go with “medley of things”. 🙂

  3. Congratulations Teri! I am so happy for you. And it is funny, in that you describe the quilting as ‘what if’ play, because looking at the definition of the album title, the way you changed the quilting designs and the thread colors, really meshes with ‘jumble’, ‘medley’ or even ‘hash’. Maybe fate really does come into play here. The artistry of your quilting, really hit home to what the musicians were trying to convey with the artistry of their music. Sort of cosmic to me :-).

  4. Teri,
It is beautiful, and you and the boys must have the same connection as you said they picked some of your favorite quilted areas for the compact area of a cd.
Where did they see the wall hanging?
