Quilt Work

These last few weeks have been very busy for me.  I’m teaching Quilting 101 (piecing) and working on quilts that will end up in Houston.

I’ve had the privilege of quilting for Jeanie Sumrall-Ajero of Kaleidoscope Collections.  I quilted for her last year the quilt being part of the Favorite Projects Volume 2 cd.  I’m amazed with what can happen with images and this software!

Jeanie recently sent 2 quilts.  The first had a very quick turn around time and I did not get any images.

And right now I couldn’t show them any way as the quilt will be in an upcoming issue of Machine Quilting Unlimited.  I managed to get it done on time and to her for binding.  The second quilt Jeanie sent is these adorable puppies.  They will be with Jeannie and her husband in their booth in Houston.

Stop by and take a look.  This quilt is so adorable and Jeanie gave me free reign to do what I wanted with the quilt!  That is just so exciting to this quilter.  I chose to keep the kaleidoscope effect going and use what I see as curved visual lines throughout the quilt top.

I chose Superiors Variegated Metallic for the puppies bed to give them just that little bit of bling these puppies deserve.  The border will get a little more quilting to highlight the deep color.  I’m thinking just a solid gold metallic but I’m not sure at the moment.  I’m just amazed at the beautiful variety in quilting these days from hand work to machine work; with and without computers.  Oh my!

I also did a quilt for RaNae Merrill.   RaNae lives here in the City and whilst riding through Central Park she was knocked off her bike by some nitwit.  As things were getting close to Houston and I knew RaNae was going I offered to quilt for her.  She’ll be debuting her new book “Magnificent Spiral Mandala Quilts”  at the F&W booth in Houston.  The quilt I quilted will be there with her.  This quilt has some gold cotton lame, which I McTavished with Gold Metallic.  If you know Karen McTavish you know that this is very fitting.

I don’t know if the fabric companies stay for Festival after Market, if they do visit the Marcus booth and check out the pattern I did for them for one of their new fabric lines.  Once it’s up on their site I’ll post a blog about it.  The line is very pretty and comes in two color ways that work easily with one another.

Finally I’ll have another project going up on the Rit Dye website shortly.
