Going into the City

It’s been mentioned that quilts & quilters are taking over New York City this weekend.  We have a trifecta of quilting events:

Empire Quilters Guild Urban Inspirations Show

The Red & White Quilt Exhibit at the Park Ave. Armory

Folk Art Museum: Masterworks & Super Stars @ Lincoln Center Branch (Lincoln Center Branch is hosting a quilting demonstration this afternoon as well).

Alex Anderson, Paula Nadelstern & Meg Cox will have a program tomorrow afternoon.

I’m heading into Manhattan today!!!  First Stop: The City Quilter!  It’s on the way from the bus to FIT to see the Empire show.  Renee has a quilt in the show this year, the 2nd show this quilt is in.  Yay! Renee!

These weeks continue to be full, full, full.  I am un-stitching part of the quilting on the t-shirt quilt.  *shaking my head* puckering started to happen and I just can not live with puckering in a quilt!  Once the errant stitching is out I’ll stitch in the riddle and get quilting on the rest of it.

I am in the midst of designing 3 quilts that I’ll be able to share with you later on.  Lets just say that I get to have fun!

And I’m getting ready for next weeks trip to Maine.  I’m excited!  I know I’ve mentioned before I’m teaching at the Creative Sewing Center in Auburn.   There is still room in the class.  We will have door prizes provided by Marcus!   How cool is that?!    At the end of class, if students bring their not yet quilted tops, we do an, “And Now What?!” and discuss the possibilities.  Quilting possibilities are endless…yes we quilters can be a bit of an obsessive lot, needing to make sure it’s all just right.

I’m finishing up a project with Rit and will have a new pattern on their site in about a week.  I’ll link to the pattern just as soon as I know it’s coming out.

Happy Quilting!

Teri

  1. I hope you saw my quilts at FIT. I have two wallhangings. one is a hand painted geisha from a Loni Rossi panel and the other is sillouette of an African woman dancing. I will be there Sunday. Hope you enjoy the shows.
