Just finished a delightful day 2 at Olde City Quilts in Burlington NJ owned by Judy and Rob Engime. Olde CityQuilts is a Bernina and a Gammill dealer and the shop is filled with fabrics in beautiful vignettes, Christmas here, Halloween there, solids, batiks oh this store goes on forever!
Last night (Thursday) was the trunk show sharing well loved quilts and some ribbon winners. I was quite delighted that two ladies, friends of Ann Hein a Janome educator drove all the way from Maryland!
Judy brought in her Bernina 1080 for me to demonstrate on at the end of the trunk show. Sigh! There is nothing like a well made, well loved machine. (Please don’t tell my 1080 but I am quite smitten with the new Bernina 7 series!)
The classroom space is just perfect. There is room for everyone. There is room for at least 24 to 28 students.
Today I had 5 delightful quilters who stuck in and quilted, quilted, quilted! We worked until lunch, took about 1/2 an hour or so then worked straight through until 4 PM. The first part of the morning we practiced on paper getting some of the stitches down with both right and left hands before sitting at the machines to stitch. We covered loads of stitches getting to feathers, swirling feathers.
When I asked if they minded if I shared photos on the blog they happily agreed.
Four of the quilters used BSR’s and two of them for the first time. Shirley, works at Olde City and is a technician gave her mom and sister a quick lesson before I got there. These ladies had those BSR’s zipping right along.
Thread changes through out the day kept things interesting. The silver/black metallic feather work is just off the hook beautiful!
Tomorrow we’re doing “Twisted Journey – From Inspiration to Whole Cloth” there’s still time to sign up and come spend the day stitching with me. http://www.oldecityquilts.com/module/class.htm?classId=24991

Monday morning bright and early I leave for the west coast to Portland for Machine Quilters Expo. I’m going to help set up the quilt show, will have a table at the Ice Cream Social and then get ready to teach. One of the days I’ll get to take a class with Karen McTavish. That should be a blast.
