A gift

My sweetie and I were in a Cracker Barrel sitting next to this sign.  It caught my attention and thought I’d share.  This magazine looks like it has some great advice and judging from the price it’s very reasonable. 😉

So a few weeks ago I posted this blog, mentioning that I gave this to Debby Brown.  And indeed I thought I did give it to Debby while we were both in Houston.  Debby being the kind hearted woman she is messaged me and said she didn’t have it.  I started thinking and I’m wondering if I handed it to Pokey for the mug rug swap.

Well, realizing that the person I thought I’d given this “Bang Head Here” quilt to didn’t have it I wanted to make good on this.  Debby and I made lunch plans dining at Emma’s Ale House.

We shared the hand made chips served with a Maytag blue cheese and truffle oil, had their mac & cheese and Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding.  I’m salivating just thinking about this and I’m going again in a few days. It’s a good thing I’m not on an intentional diet!

So this morning having just a short amount of time to do any kind of quilting I set about making a “Bang Head Here” frustration reliever for Debby.  I have some Kaufman decorator weight samples (0ld sample books) and some Radiance I’m using for another project, a bit of Wonder-fil thread and made this for Debby.

Every quilter needs a bit of whimsy in their sewing studio.  I layered a bit of bamboo batting then a layer of silk batting on top of a piece of cotton backing then added the silk.  I picked an owl that made me happy and placed the words next to it.  As an aside I free hand cut the letters and the arrow from the Radiance.  Then I just started stitching.  What a great way to stitch the morning away.  I finished just in time to get myself together to go to lunch.

I bound the quilt-let in orange Fossil Fern from Benartex.  Debby noted that right away.  Quilters know Fossil Ferns!  These are some of the most fab tone on tone/textured prints.

We had a lovely lunch and a great chat. I’m looking forward to our next time together and making more of these “Bang Head Here” quilts!

Happy Quilting!

Teri
