Is the New York Botanical Garden. My sweetie, a good friend and I spent 3 hours walking around, checking out the cherry blossoms and other blooming flowers. I was in part on a quest to take a beautiful, inspiring photo for one of my mini groups. I may go back one day next week on my own and get some more photos as there’s one shot I didn’t get.
There are so many words going through my brain trying to adequately describe the beauty of the blooms. Superlatives all. Instead I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.

After a delightful lunch we headed over to the Cloisters. It’s such a delight. We hadn’t visited in a very, very long time and our friend was game to go. At one point I sat down to draw and kind of start working out the stitching path for a basket weave.
I have an idea flitting around my head for a while cloth that this type of stitching borders. I need to play with how this stitches out before stitching it out on a whole cloth quilt. I think it’ll be a great border. I love the background fill on this metal piece from either the 13th or 14th century. And something similar will end up in one of my whole cloth quilts.
It’s hard to put into words the realization that this full piece gave me. I’ll talk more about that in a few days.

Ah, the Cloisters is a special place. The only time I’ve ever been there was in March, about 7 years ago. Just as my husband (he’s a medieval historian) and I walked out into the actual cloister, big fluffy flakes of snow started falling. We could have been transported to the 1300s for all that we could see around us. It was truly a magical experience. Your photos are great and I’m looking forward to seeing your quilt!
I was at the New York Botanic Garden a few weeks ago. It’s two, relatively short bus rides from where I live. When I was younger, I would walk over on Sunday mornings and read the New York Times. Today, just walking around the park is plenty of exercise.
