Two American Brands One Happy Quilter

First up: American Made Brand Cotton Solids. Read more of their story here. Oh my goodness. I am in LOVE! Fifty, 100% cotton solids made with cotton grown, processed, spun, woven & dyed right here in America. One color for every state.  We’ve got this whole foodie farm to table movement that I love – locally sourced food, prepared in local restaurants and enjoyed within a few days of arrival. The food is usually outstanding and really supports the local economy. Neighbor helping neighbor.

Locally we can get this at the Quilt Basket which is in the process of moving. I can tell you this dear quilters I will be purchasing more and more and more of this. I like the feel of it, I like the texture of it. These will become my staple solids and you all know how much I love solids.

I love them. A lot.

And here’s why:

I finally had the opportunity to do some quilting with the sample of Signature Thread, a 60 wt., 50 wt., 40 wt and metallic I brought home from BERNINA U. Signature Thread is manufactured here in the United States. Check out their website, See What Materializes.  I used the 60 wt. in the bobbin and was quite pleased  with the results. Though I failed to adjust tension on one of the pieces, whoopsie, I won’t tell you which one. HA!
One perpetual concern is lint. Then I says to myself, “self, it is cotton, cotton can be linty because it is, after all, cotton.” I am happy to report that there was no more lint than Aurifil and Superior. happy dance!

there is only left to try the metallic – I have a feeling I’m going to be rather happy, particularly since it’s on a polyester core, giving it that flexibility we quilters are looking for.

Long Arm quilter Elaine Huffman loves these, as do many other quilters I’m sure.

Made in America, both.

These will BOTH be making more of an appearance in my quilt making endeavors.
