I am MAD as Hell! Thieves broke into my studio over the weekend and stole virtually every quilt (see the album What the Thieves Stole). This is an oh so wonderful follow-up to the break in a week and a half ago in which one quilt was stolen. We had beefed up security but the thieves paid no attention. They just ripped the alarm from the door and busted the security lights. Am I paranoid or am I just being targeted?! I have posted images of the main quilts stolen (there are probably more) just in case you see or hear of anything. Please call the BPD or if you see or hear anything suspicious. I have trunk shows booked at guilds and it makes it very difficult to give a trunk show without my quilts.
And if YOU the thief is reading this, please don’t bother to break in again. There is NOTHING more for you to get. We have moved virtually everything out of the studio and are searching for a new location. Also, thanks for the pee and poop you left in the toilet!!! F&^$#*$!!

$1000 REWARD FOR STOLEN QUILTS
Yesterday I was mad as hell. Today–well, I’m still mad, but am thinking a bit more clearly. So I’ve decided to offer a $1000 reward to whoever facilitates the return of my stolen quilts. (to see all of them, check out my photo album titled “What the Thieves Stole). These are two of the quilts. They all have labels on them and were stolen from my studio in Bakersfield, CA some time between 5:00 PM Friday 7/25 and 9:00 AM Monday 7/28. Contact me via FB or call me at if you know the whereabouts of my precious quilts.
Please take a look at the quilts below, if you see them please contact Nancy with the numbers provided or the Bakersfield PD. Please be smart and 1) do not attempt to purchase the quilts and 2) do not attempt to confront the people who stole these.

Keep your eyes open!!!!! You may be thinking that this couldn’t happen to you ‘cuz you’re not “famous”………..these days there are those who seem to think that just because they want something they can take it!!!!!! Praying for a miracle return for Nancy!!!!!
I wonder if the thieves didn’t already have a buyer. This isn’t an item like jewelry that can be sold many places.

How sad. I am sorry you are going through this, I have only had one quilt stolen from a nursing home and I was so angry I just can’t imagine how mad you have to be.
I am so sorry this happened. Did the police collect the evidence (poop)? Maybe that would give them a clue.
I am SO sorry!!! This violation is terrible…I can’t imagine how you feel. I had a huge plant stolen from my porch years ago (still don’t know how many it took to carry it) but that was nothing compared to your loss…I feel so, so bad for you. Hope they catch these people and hang them by their toes.
I learned about this theft via treadlemusic. I feel so horrible for you. This is such a violation of your sense of security plus just plain awful that people are now stealing quilts.

My heart breaks for you. This person(s) knew what they were going for so that sure narrows down the suspect pool.

If the thieves left bodily fluids behind, maybe there is a way for the police to check DNA. Anyone that stupid probably left footprints, fingerprints, etc. If they broke in when they knew you were gone, I’d be curious to know what the neighbors were up to and if anyone else in the neighborhood had any sort of surveillance cameras. If they only took quilts and no other valuables, very strange. Best of luck.

I wonder if the first break-in was just to get a sample of what they could get their hands on. This is so sad and I know you are heartbroken, I would be. I would post a BIG sign on your studio door/window about the reward money. Whoever stole them knew what was inside your studio and maybe they pass by there everyday or maybe one of their friends. You know thieves like to talk among friends and maybe the reward is worth more than a thief’s friendship.
HEARTBREAKING…I hope you get them all back in perfect condition and in a timely fashion. I worry about our country…we have lost respect for others and their talents.
Keep trying. My Grandson’s custom bike was stolen and he checked every day and found it advertised for sale in a bike store. The police met him at the store and he left with the bike. It could happen. I feel just horrible for you. They were probably surprised what the sold the first one for and came for the rest. I would check ebay and etsy as well. I really hope you get them back.
Nancy, how awful for you and for us too. I just checked out your book from our guild library, I was so impressed with your beautiful work. These gorgeous one of a kind pieces are like snowflakes, someone somewhere must see something. I will keep there safe return in my prayers as our quilts sometimes are as precious as our children. I am ever so sorry.

How absolutely awful what kind of people are there out there. I am so sorry that you have had to deal with this and really hope they get caught and your quilts returned. Don’t give up your quilts are beautiful and I love your page.

I am so sorry that someone would stoop so low as to steal a quilt,let alone several. I hope you find them and the person or persons responsible and that they spend a great deal of time in jail. I love your designs. Keep up the great work!
