C&T Blog Tour: Sew Emoji by Gailen Runge

UPDATE! Congratulations Carol DeLater, you are a winner of an ebook! I’ll be reaching out to you soon

Sew Emoji Mix and Match 60 Features for Custom Emoticons Make a Twin Size Quilt, Pillows, & More
Gailen Runge
C&T Publishing
64 pages
soft cover $17.95; ebook $12.99

Emoji’s allow us to express a wide range of emotions and aid us in effectively communicating in an online, written environment. As technology advanced emoji’s changed from the symbols to these cartoon like images, making them so much more fun and giving the emoji’s a life all their own.

Gailen’s gone a step or six beyond designing individual emojis and their various parts to create emoji’s all your own. The directions are clear giving good options for creating blocks for quilt or images for stand alone pillows or multi-emoji bolsters.
There’s an emoji that is near and dear to my heart as a friend made it for me and well it has a humorous memory. I’ll just leave that right there for your ever fruitful imagination to ponder.

All the right color names and numbers for the fabrics used are provided to create a twin-size quilt. It’s a great thing to have this info near at hand making it easier to visit our local quilt shops and get just the right stuff. The cool thing is we can really use any background we like. The yellow of the faces will pop against any color really.

Gailen gives great tips for clipping curves of each emoji. Price-less!! The patterns alone make the book worth getting. Who doesn’t need to incorporate sunglasses into a quilt.

Be sure to leave a comment letting me know what emjoi that you wanna make. I’ll draw a winner for a copy of the ebook on Wednesday April 10th. Be sure to visit the other stops on the blog tour to see what they have to say and other chances to win.

  1. Trying to think of a way to make the face expressions removable and replaceable so the kids can change the emoji to match their feelings.
