Twenty twenty woke up mid-January and said, “Hey! you there! hang onto your nickers it’s going to be a bit of a wild & fun ride. Kinda like those rickety sounding roller coasters that scare ya but are totally fun. Wheeeeeeeeeeeee!
At the end of a delightful day teaching a friend to use her BERNINA, and fixing a friends machine I received the pdf of Color, Thread, and Free-Motion Quilting Learn to Stitch with Reckless Abandon. Not only did the smile grow wider the tears flowed a little bit. While I am a published author, and quilt designer publishing this book has a dreams really do come true experience to it. I cannot thank C&T enough. Over these last few weeks I’ve been floating a couple of giveaway ideas by a few friends. Ideas are definitely percolating over here.
Now for the Really Big News

My Sweetie and I are moving to Texas. Just outside of Austin.
You may now pick your jaw up off the floor. My Sweetie got a job, that he’s enjoying already. Our house is in contract, and we’ll close within the next few weeks. I am home packing and taking care of some details to make this move possible. It is so fascinating to see all of the details come together for a major life move.
The last few days as I’ve tackled some of the packing memories flood over me. It helps that I’m shredding my journals and sneak peeking some of the pages. I’m shredding the journals for a variety of reasons including a desire not to move them, wanting some control over how they’re handled, and not wanting anyone to read them down the road. I’d decided years ago to burn them so shredding is the next best thing. With all of the blogging I’ve done over the years there will always be a record of Teri Lucas.
The room that is toughest to tackle is my sewing room, as one can imagine. It is a creative space filled with memories, fabric, machines, magazines, books, thoughts, ideas, inspiration wall, thread, more ideas, creative energy and strong desire. Then there’s another room that’s tough to tackle. Oh Joy.
Keeping this quiet has been challenging to say the least. Kinda like telling you other news over the last few years. Phew…that roller coaster is clickety clacking.
I’m off to pack, edit, and enjoy this ride.

What exciting news. You are in for a lot of changes, but there is no doubt that you both will handle them easily. It’s fun to explore and find the best grocery stores, fabric shops and restaurants. I think you’ll love living in Texas. You’ll be amazed at how big the sky looks sometimes. Montana isn’t the only big sky country. There’s a lot of work but it’s well worth it. Congratulations to both of you and the best of luck.
We visited a couple of weeks ago and I am really looking forward to the move. The sky is big, the stars are beautiful. How long before you found a quilt shop?

I am beyond happy for you and your husband! I know it is scary, thrilling, exhausting, tiring, thrilling, etc., but I also know that you of all my blogging friends can handle whatever is thrown your way. For me, your book is the most exciting, but that is just me being selfish. I’ve always wanted to sit down with you and have you teach me to machine quilt. Since we have always been on opposite sides of the country, it seemed a remote possibility. Now I can sit with your book and see if I can attain my goal for 2020, finally learn to machine quilt.
