2019 Word of the Year, piecing, quilt, quilt desgin, quilting

Build – Day 1

Over the last few days I’ve been in my sewing room making four patches from Northcott Microchips, 2 1/2” squares, and piecing a quilt top using some Michael Miller 5” squares. I’m not quite sure yet what I’m doing with the four patches or the small quilt top but what I do know is that it’s been so much fun building these.

There is much to do today as I get ready for my first sales trip of 2019, laundry, packing, making lunches for the next couple of days. I have a phone call Friday afternoon with C&T for some information as I move forward with writing the book. I have three quilt blocks to design today for special projects.

Today and the next week or so are built around sales, and shop relationships; as well as continuing to build the relationship with the book. In the future I’ll be taking my sewing machine and projects with me to sew and quilt in hotel rooms. I’ll be asking Debby what she brings with her as she is a frequent hotel room quilter. As I build this kit I’ll share with you the what and why.

Since I’ll be traveling to quilt shops I’ll do something of a travelogue as well. In the back of my BuJo I’ll be making lists of quilts to work on, chapters to write, and books I’m reading along the way. And with that I’m off to build my BuJo cover and get some things together. Oh and if you have a moment, head over to A Quilters Heart and read Imagine.

May your 2019 be as amazing as you are!

Teri

    1. Yes to both. I use a size 80 MicroTex needle for both piecing and quilting. As a general rule I reduce the top tension and thread the finger on my bobbin case.
