Along with the saga of the mixers this will be a reflection on 2023. Below I’ll include a link for the Quilters Color Mixer that includes a discount code for those who sign up through my link or use the code. And I’ll link over to the most recent The Book Report.
A few weeks before Christmas my next door neighbor adjusted the KitchenAid stand mixer I’ve had for about 25 years. Around the same time I got a Krups hand mixer for the littler mixing work. The other day as I mixed butter, sugar and eggs one of the beaters fell apart.
Not really convenient however it was 25 years old and there were times I gave this mixer a good workout so this has seen some good usage. I started looking at new mixers and I have one in mind. My Sweetie is a really good looker upper of all things necessary so before ordering said new mixer I set him to work looking for whatever he could find. He found replacement beaters, that arrived on Friday. YAY! More cinnamon rolls were made so the timing is good and I’m thrilled that we spent 1/4 of the cost of the new mixer for now. I will eventually get the new mixer, it’ll wait.
Also I’m sure you’ve noticed it’s been quiet around here of late. The Book Report Video is edited and posted.
There are also intense weekends in formation as a Spiritual Director – this is someone who walks with others in their Faith life. This has been a long time in coming and I’m excited to take this one. I’ve long held that faith and quilting (creative practices) are interrelated.
So I posted this on the great big picture show to explore these answers here on the blog:
What was the most beautiful moment of 2023? Holding my husbands hand.
Deepening friendship.
Reconnecting with an old friend.
Reading a response to a reflection I wrote for spiritual direction.
Where have I grown? What can I leave behind?
This is almost one question since growing often looks a lot like pruning, weeding, or going through my fabric stash and quilting books to see what no longer serves me. I’m going to take this part over to a quilters heart this week.
At one moment I really thought I was going to walk away from the business side of quilting. Except there’s something I need to do, and I don’t quite know what that is. If you have any ideas please let me know.

What does moving forward look like?
I have the Monk Manual Life Atlas that I’m working through on New Years Day. This should help sort some of this out. I’m surprisable. I’m surprisable. Quilt World tell me where you need me, surprise me.
Happy Quilting,
Teri

I felt your “oh no” moment regarding the mixer! My first kitchen aid mixer lasted 35 years. . . then the motor died. . .no going back from there. I’m on my second Kitchen Aid mixer. . .it’s got to be at least 15 years old. . .So nice to have a tool that lasts! I hope you get more years out of your mixer because there is always thread to buy!
