If your iron hasn’t been used in a while, be sure to run a thorough cleaning cycle prior to using the iron.
When choosing batting it’s important to know what the batting will do and how closely it needs to be quilted. Some battings 2-3″ is the most space that can be left between stitching lines and 8 – 10 on others.
Question – are the Kaleidoscope quilts pictured machine quilted or hand embroidered? I have the program and love making designs using my photos but not sure what to do once they’ve been printed on fabric. I’d appreciate advice on how to get started. Thank you.
Barbara,
The Kaleidoscopes are made in Kaleidoscope Kreator 3. A photo is imported into the software then I can choose the shape and see how the kaleidoscope image looks before saving it. The images I used for the ones posted are created from a photo of my quilting. So the stitching is done by machine.
Kaleidoscope Kreator 3 has an add-on specifically for the filigrees where the images have been digitized for embroidery.

Thanks so much for your prompt reply. I watched the video and am amazed at the possibilities. Makes me want to purchase an embroidery machine.
Hi Teri — I bought the cheap vodka — what is the ratio of vodka to water, and do I add anything else?
I am pretty sure this is straight vodka. There is a hint of vanilla in this.
I just watched the video on using rulers on a domestic machine (three Berninas) and want to know more about the rulers – brand, type, etc.
Thanks so much for asking. In the video we used Lisa’s Quilters Groove rulers, they can be found here: http://www.lisahcalle.com/shop/
I also have and use Angela Huffman’s Quilt Guide Ruler/Angel Edition: http://www.quiltedjoy.com/product/machine-quilting-aides/quilt-guide-longarm-ruler-set
I haven’t used rulers made by anyone else at this point. When I do I’ll post.
Teri
