A Most Memorable Date

Beauty Beyond Bones is one of my fave non-quilt related blogs. Caralyn speaks honestly about anorexia, recovery from anorexia, and more. In the linked blog post she’s speaking of a trip to Spain to travel the Camino de Santiago. Her description of the whole-head, clear eyed fish served for lunch in their hotel. This reminded me of a date with my Sweetie.

Before we were married Sweetie lived in Harlem, working in a Parish, I worked as a nanny in New Jersey. I’d take the train into the City and catch a bus to the parish to spend the day, or an over night (I slept in a Convent with some of the coolest sisters!). After Mass one afternoon we went to One Fish, Two Fish in in the high 90’s in Manhattan (now closed) and, oddly enough, ordered fish.

I was, for the most part, a vegetarian that would eat fish now and again. I didn’t realize that the fish arrived, fully cooked, at the table with beautiful clear eyes. Surprise! After a little cover up the eyes job with an extra napkin. The fish was delish.

This week I’ve been working on this:

I used one whole spool, 273 yards, of Tiara Silk a 50 weight Silk thread. I’m so in love with this thread.

And then I started adding texture, and a different color. I think…I’m getting the sky effect that I’m looking for.

PS if you have any ideas for shooting purple please let me know.

Happy Stitching,

Teri
