Procrasti-blogging

Procrasti-blogging: writing a blog post when there are ten other things in need of doing.

The opportunity to write this afternoon is too good. I am going to figure out where I am in piecing several blocks with this scrumptious Cherrywood Fabric.

It is quite gorgeous, isn’t it. There are at least 9 blocks here waiting for their turn under the needle to be completed. Such beautiful color combinations. We all need more color in our lives. As quilt makers adding color to this world is an imperative.

Before I get started stitching it seemed good to me to share with you a couple of things:

1) isn’t this tote bag just the coolest thing since the invention of the ice cube tray? A friend gave this to me at a retreat in February and now it carries all the important stuff like my journal, whatever books I’m reading (Okay no bag can actually handle that much weight), pens, markers. So much fun and so true.

2) On the way home today this bag, and its contents landed upside down on the floor of the passenger seat of the car. To be fair I was slowing down to actually stop at a red light that changed to green, but the car three ahead of me that was stopped for the light didn’t notice the light change and remained stationary for longer than anticipated. The car in front of me almost stopped short, so I almost stopped short and well the bag and it’s contents kept up the momentum diving to the floor at speed. This had the potential for a great disaster. Thankfully when I picked it up the only thing that slipped out was a quarter. Instead of creating the definition of “procrasti-blogging” there would be a tale of great woe in these words.

This brings me to another quilt that I greatly desire to work on and a recently acquired book. A few weeks ago an idea popped into my head that I thought, oooo that’ll work! I have always loved “When Alex & Jinny met in New York, Beauty Happened” never thinking I’d do a remake of the quilt. Well one cannot actually remake a quilt like that one so one plots and plans to make something kind of adjacent to it. Since I was riffing on a quilt in Valori Wells Radiant New York Beauties (C&T Publishing) I thought I’d just buy the book. Buy the book did you say? Why yes I did. And so a quick perusal of one of my favorite book sites yielded a copy in good condition so it is now mine. Mine! Alllll miiiinnneee! It’ll be a little bit before I actually get started. I’ll be using my precious (don’t you just hear Gollum?) Marcia Derse and newly acquired Tara Faughnan Handloom collection. I have all the plans! Do I know what I’m doing though? No, I most certainly do not. We will have to see what we see when we get there and Not a Moment sooner than you very much.

With that, the machine is calling and I must give her the gift of my time. Otherwise she gets cranky and lonely and then there are other words I could use here but I won’t because they will cause me to overthink all my life choices and then nothing will ever get done. Nothing.

Happy Quilting!
