Thirty years a quilter

This afternoon I am pulling quilts and other things together so I can speak with the West Houston Quilters Guild, (their Instagram) offering the Learn to Stitch with Reckless Abandon lecture. It was a little dicey there for a bit because hurricane Beryl visited in just the right way causing damage and power outages. I’m bringing my Sweetie’s quilt with me to share about the progression from hand to machine quilter as it is there in all it’s faulted glory. Faulted glory is such an good way to say that, “here is where the learning process began and look at where it went. This quilt holds so many memories. I can hardly wait to share with this group of quilters.

If your guild is seeking a speaker and teacher I have limited availability. It is limited in that I have some commitments through April 2025.

It is often around this time of year I celebrate the anniversary of becoming a quilter. This is the Big Three-Zero, 30. I am beginning my fourth decade as a quilter and so many things have changed. I am in a quilt making slump at the moment. I’ve been here before, though I think this is significantly longer than the first time. Oh my goodness I am going through a quilty mid-life crisis! Bahaha this is now hilarious. A quilterly mid-life crisis. Okay friends, suggestions please. Not to get out of it, that will happen and hints are springing up, more for a “what would you like to see from me?” kind of thing.

I’d like to invite you to my YouTube channel click on the link and subscribe.

While this shows my first Handi Quilter Moxie video I’d hope to link to a bloopers reel. Oh well these things happen. There is a bloopers reel over there.

Well, these quilts won’t pack themselves. I hope to make a good return to blogging and newslettering.

May each stitch you take, each quilt you make lead you closer to quilting with Reckless Abandon.

  1. terryknott – I enjoy the process of making a quilt from start to finish. It is fun to use a variety of fabric types from batik to Civil War reproductions--although not in the same project! I ALWAYS have more projects started than I finish these days and I'm trying to turn those works in progress into finished quilts.
