Anticipation

I’m waiting for the USPS to confirm delivery of the application and cd to the Dairy Barn Art Center for Quilt National.  I just need to/want to know that it arrived.  The USPS is slow in updating.

Once the application is received I’ll hear from the DBAC sometime around October 4th for preliminary acceptance.   I’m excited and nervous.  It’s a big step.  I shared with a friend the other day that it’s like the first time I entered the NSQG show in Somers.  I had no clue what to expect, no idea how the judging process worked and on and on.

That first show in Somers is one of those turning points in quilting.  I entered 2 pieces, one machine quilted and one hand quilted.  The machine quilted piece scored much higher than the hand quilted piece.  This really focused the thinking process on machine quilting and that there might be something to this.

The anticipation is somewhat exciting and something of a gift.  I have something to look forward to.  I’m also giving thought to the next quilt and what that will look like.

The anticipation is somewhat nerve wracking too.  I need to give myself more room to get entry forms into a show.  While I didn’t intend for this to be the last minute, it was, and that adds to the heightened sense of anticipation/anxiety.

All in all, I’m enjoying this and whether I get into this show or not, I love this quilt and this quilting adventure.

happy quilting!

Teri

UPDATE – the application made it to OH this morning!  Whew!

  1. Isn’t that what really matters? I’m sure it will be accepted but the important point is that you entered. You have a lot more courage than I do, girlfriend.

I’ll miss you in Greenville. 🙁

  2. Kudos for being the subject of Mother Superior’s blog today! Way to go on entering your quilt in such a big show. . .you’ve way more courage than me!
