In just a couple of weeks Debby Brown will be the featured speaker at the Dutchess Heritage Quilt Show. Debby is funny, a great teacher, chopper of wood, and a lover of chocolate. She is the queen of ribbon candy bending it to her every whim.
This morning (Sunday 9/29) I am off to Pieceful Quilting to talk about a few Northcott Fabrics and share some gorgeous quilts. I have two here at home that I’m excited to share.
This morning I went to Christie’s Quilting Boutique to see Lisa Archer of Pickle Pie Designs. It was good to see her and catch up with the Pickle Pie Manager, Ken. Rumor has it she’s coming back in a couple of months. I’ll let you know as soon as I can.
A couple of months ago I visited Creekside Fabrics, Quilts & Yarn in Arcade NY. (Buffalo area) It is, as one would suspect, right beside a creek. I know, I was shocked too in part because I didn’t realize it until I was in the classroom and heard the water flowing next to the shop. It’s a soothing sound. The shop has a good variety of fabric, some great yarn and welcoming staff.
Aurora Sewing Center has two locations East Aurora (not to be confused with Aurora, NY they are no where near each other), and Williamsville (both in the Buffalo area). I heard about this shop way back in the day when Alex Anderson when there with BERNINA or The Quilt Show. These shops are fabulous and the staff is knowledgeable. Their fabric selection is amazing and both shops have great parking.
Carriage Quilt Shoppe East Aurora NY set back from the street with ample parking this shop seems a bit of a hole in the wall. The owners and staff are friendly, the in-shop displays caught my attention immediately as there is an ever changing exhibit of fabric like the artwork it is. They have a good selection of fabric and a lot of fun.
The Quilt Farm located in Boston NY is impressive. I’d go just to look around from room to room and see the wide range of fabric, books, and notions available. The in-store displays are worth the visit alone. The shop is located on farm property, easy to get to and rather homey. I enjoyed the visit with the owner as much as I enjoyed the shop.
More shops coming soon, so stay tuned.
PS I have to tell you that waiting until January to do the cover reveal on for my book has me singing
