Handi Quilter, Moxie Inspiration Squad

I’m in Utah!

Yep that’s right. I flew from Austin to Salt Lake City on Sunday afternoon. I’m in Utah until Wednesday doing some training with Handi Quilter on the Moxie long arm.

I am a member of the Handi Quilter Moxie Inspiration Squad. Woot. I’ll be blogging, and doing other social media. I’ll be sharing with you more about the machine, creating video content as I learn how to long arm and being a beginner.

Today we built the frame and set the machine up. There is an app called Bilt that has the directions complete with animation, for setting up the frame and machine. The process took us a bit longer than the app suggested however between the app and putting together the frame today it will be a bit easier. That said putting the frame together and putting the machine on is not difficult.

Learning to use the long arm will be a fun process and I’m absolutely certain I’ll have some difficulties along the way. Because that’s what happens. it is those difficulties that we work to overcome that give us the skills to do the thing we want to do. Adding a new skill set is always a good thing. At lunch today it was mentioned that one persons space needed to be marked to save her seat. I had a pen in my pocket so I wrote her name in left to right, then as I often do, right to left. Writing backwards helps with quilting in any direction that I want to do. One of the educators said I should have no problem learning the quilting part of it.

Watch Instagram https://www.instagram.com/terilucas/ over the next few days for more of what we’re doing. When the other members of the Moxie Inspiration Squad post on their social media I’ll share here and tell you a bit more about them. #handiquilter #moxieinspirationsquad

Happy Stitching,

Teri

    1. Chris Handi Quilter did everything they could from taking temperatures, hand sanitizer and masks or face shields to keep everyone safe. Anyone who was speaking to Kitti Wilkin who was attending on Zoom and needed to read lips wore a face shield. While it looks as though someone isn’t wearing a mask her face is covered.

      1. That’s good to know! Thank you for addressing my concern. I appreciate you taking the time to not only respond here in the comments but in your next blog post too.
