Flights and Fantasies & more

Jackie KunkelThis weekend is the quilt show at the New England Air Museum: Flights and Fantasies it’s called. Jackie Kunkle of Canton Village Quilt Works heads up this amazing show in Windsor Locks CT, a charming New England Town indeed.

I’d say if you get a chance go.

I just saw on fb Sue Reich’s exhibit of antique quilts all war related in one way or another. One of the quilts, red & white, has the words of the hymn, “Nearer my God to Thee” appliqued (I’m presuming at this moment). The entire hymn.

What flitted through my mind was another quilters comment, while one in particular it matters not who but that some quilters experience a need to have permission to pursue quilting in a way that makes sense to them. Precision piecing, modern quilting, traditional quilting, whole cloth, quilts with embroidery, hand work, machine work whatever.

Find your passion in quilting and pursue it with all of who you are!

Go visit these amazing quilts, see our history, be grounded, be rooted and then by all means be free.

Happy Quilting!
