The Book Report: Blog Style

Just the other day I started a new Quilters Project Planner. One of my quilt groups has a challenge for 12 months, so I have quilts mapped out for the year. If I miss a goal there is a fat quarter for someone at the end of it. If I make my goal then no fat quarter for you.

I do have this thing for planners, trying to find just the right one that keeps me on track and helps me remember things like, oh, my Sweetie’s birthday, when I’m leavin’ on a jet plane or quilting with friends, when I’m teaching, or having a bit of self-care in the sewing room.

C&T (Stash Books) is releasing a new planner just for Garment Makers.
$19.95
100 pages

The first thing I noticed about this planner is this:

the models have a variety of body shapes and skin tones. What a beautiful group of people. Next up here’s everything needed to dream, plan and organize 12 projects. Okay so each of these are essential whether we are quilting, embroidering (there’s a planner for embroiderers too!) and garment making. What I deeply appreciate is that in any of these pursuits we can archive what we’re doing. This is a fancy way of saying, “keep a record” of what we’re making. This is important as it serves as a place to see where and how we’ve grown in a particular skill set. If you’re not a sketcher one thing you can do is add imagery on the sketching pages. Go ahead with that inkjet printer, or send to the local pharmacy and have pics printed and put them in there! Show your garment in all its glory and on your body too.

When it says everything you need to Dream, Plan & Organize 12 projects it’s the organizing bit that makes my quilterly heart giddy, and yes I know we’re talking garment making here. There’s a place to lay our your year, to write all the details about the garment and the measurement details to adjustments and fabric care info. There’s a task checklist, for those who love the organization here is where you get to check things off and say, TaDone! date it and move onto the next part.

Gailen’s included a “Garment Bucket List” and space for working out what you need for a Capsule Wardrobe. Friends I haven’t fully scratched the surface here.

Before I move onto my 2024 list of project there’s a little bit I want to share with you. Whether you are a novice garment maker, or an experienced one this planner is handy. If I were a garment maker this would be my next purchase and I’d probably order three. Yes, you read that right I am not a garment maker, body shape is something I don’t understand. Can I stitch a moon out of metallic thread? You bet. Can I get fabric to drape well on my buxom body? Not so much. This planner will get a workout though.

So before I head off to finish baking the sourdough that I started two days ago, I thought I’d share my 2024 list of quilts. I’ve started a new Bang Head Here Quilt. Oh, I should add it to the list, or get another planner….off to C&T….

Whether you are Making Garments, Embroidering, Quilting or Knitting & Crocheting there’s a planner for you!

Happy Stitching!
