May Travelogue

This weeks travelogue traverses northern NY state. Let’s start with The Old Creamery in Ellisburg NY. This shop has a retreat center on the upper floor and the back of the quilt shop. The center includes a fully functioning kitchen, living room, tables for quilters to stitch, rooms with beds and can hold up to ten quilters. The space is light and airy with plenty of room for each person to spread out a bit. There is a separate entrance for the retreatants and lots of parking making The Old Creamery a place to visit.

The Robin’s Nest is a small, welcoming shop in Fulton NY. This shop features classes for disabled customers (Robin has a specialty in this area.) There’s parking in the front and back of the shop. There’s lots of fabric to look at and the area is beautiful. It’s well worth a visit to see her and the shop.

The Quilting Bee located in Sodus NY is easy to get to, has lots of fabric and is set up for great classes. The owner, Deborah, does garment alterations as well as run the quilt shop. It was fascinating to watch her do a fitting while I was there. (Garment sewing fascinates me.) There’s lots of fabric and space for classes.

Carriage Quilt Shop in East Aurora NY is tucked in a beautiful area of town with a great parking lot. This adorable shop displays fabric as works of art, stretching panels and other pieces on painters canvases and hanging them around the shop. This owner Linda, has a hearty laugh and a great staff that is willing to help any quilter.

Now if you live in the NY/NJ area and have been to some of the show you’ve seen Fieldstone House vending. Did you know they have a shop? They do in Sidney Center NY. Give them a call ahead of time just to make sure they’re in, they do have a full travel schedule. This is one of those shops where, if you’re in need of a fabric, most likely they have it. It might take a bit of a look however it’ll be worth it that’s for dang sure.

I’m off to Kansas City for Quilt Market this week. I’m traveling with the chocolate cake eating Debby Brown. Did you see when I got in on her facebook live? We’ll be doing a bit of looking for ice cream or chocolate, and bbq. I’ll be in the Northcott Booth, 2224, on Friday and Saturday. If you’re one of my shops I can be in the Benartex booth 2102, 2103 either early morning or Sunday.

I’m looking forward to seeing you there!

Happy Stitching,

Teri
