Hi Teri, I have been following your blog for the past few weeks and am on a mission to improve my skills and have more fun. I love your lessons and it has finally sunk in that if I can’t draw something with my pencil, why should I expect to be able to free motion it on my machine. Duh! My first set of lessons were done on my tablet with an app called Penultimate. I was able to do the practice on the screen. I am sending you a screen shot of the multiple pages of that practice session. Then I graduated to a dry erase board so there are some photos of that. Finally, here are 3 fabric samples. They are pretty terrible, and I plan to do more practice on them and get my curves to be smoother. I see the same type of mistakes on the fabric that I had on the app and the dry erase. I am the commenter KMA and you posted Karen McTavishes Utube video, which was very enlightening. I have watched it a couple times now and see something new each time.”
There are always opportunities to see something new. Do something a little bit differently. The more we practice both on paper and on cloth (with the good stuff) the better we get as quilters.

It’s so exciting to watch as the “light bulb” begins to go on in this process!!! Learning feathers has enabled me to translate those fundamentals to so many other motifs. Thanks for the great posts, the tutorials, links, encouragement and inspiration!!!!!! Hugs……………..
I would love to conquer this skill, I play at it, but always give up. Best for me would be a hands on class just for feathers. I doodle with pencil and ink, try them once a while on the machine. But always turn to my diagonal geometries, which I really do love and do a great job with.
