Over the last couple of days I’ve been stitching out a couple of in the hoop projects and editing patterns for a friend. This part is incredibly enjoyable as there is a need for attention to detail. In making the thing, and working through the pattern, as it is in the making that some mistakes are caught. That and learning a bit more about embroidery is always good. And not for nothing it does create some Hoop Envy as I’d like to be able to make bigger stuff. That said, I’m grateful for what I have and what I can do with it.
A few years ago I met Kayla Weathers in person in the Generation Q Magazine booth at Quilt Market. Kayla and Chana are the owners of Quilter’s Square in Lexington, KY, they were early adopters of Generation Q Magazine, and are just kind people. Kayla started an Indiegogo page to help raise necessary funds for the shop to move. In a similar way to other campaigns I’ve shared, this is (re)investing in a business. Think of this as an Initial public offering or a City or State Bond to raise funds for necessary infrastructure work. If you would please take a moment read, contribute, and share.
NOTE – I know that there are detractors with this kind of funding, which is why I explain it the way I do as stock offering and bond funding. I fully support the stuff I share here in part because of the people and in part because especially in the quilting community sometimes we need to do the unusual, unexpected, and outside the norm. We need to connect with each other in a different way or there may be extenuating circumstances.
I love it when I get so wrapped up in what I’m doing that I forget to check the back
I’ve been stitching on this glorious purple with an Aurifil 50 wt blue. I’m loving every single stitch. And the back looks like absolute crap. I’ll post that later on Instagram because I’m throwing my hands in the air like I just don’t care. Because I don’t. I love what’s happening.
Saturday April 28th I’m excited to be teaching at Christie’s Quilting Boutique in Norwalk CT. I’d love to see you there. We’re doing a Beginner Free Motion Class. Here’s a link to the facebook event page. Call Christie and sign up.
