I’m teaching “Let Your Foot Loose be fancy Free” at Hartsdale Fabrics today.
On their schedule it looks like advanced machine quilting 🙂
it’ll be a play day with these ladies and I’m looking forward to it.
The shop is having a sale – that includes BERNINA!! Squee.
If you’re in the area and want a last minute class – I have a bit of space available.
I’m gearing up for Road to California, talked to the BERNINA dealer yesterday and I’m really excited to work with them…Mel’s Sewing in Anaheim. I spoke with Carol yesterday to get the feet I need for class.
I still love the smilie face Donna from Follow That Thread gave me on the end of a thread spool! If you are in need of an Aurifil fix Donna is at MQX in Manchester NH this week and will be at the Northern Star show in May. YAY!!!
Monday May 12, 2 p.m. Hartsdale Fabrics If the Foot Fits – Use it!
I’ll be demonstrating a number of feet for the machine that we, as quilters, wouldn’t generally use in quilt-making.
Saturday May 24, 10:30 a.m. Hartsdale Fabrics If the Foot Fits – Use it
Still working on a couple of other events that I’ll be able to share as soon as dates are finalized.
Tomorrow I’ll announce the winners of the feather challenge.
What did they win, you may ask? A quilt consult and 1/2 yard of fabric! That’s right, I will mentor you through machine quilting a quilt of your choice. This will all be done via email over a 3 month period.
Later this year there will be another challenge offered with another quilter. We’re working out the details of said challenge and will post details when we can.
I really like to see how quilters and artists interpret things.
My first impression of the quilt on the left is that of a dart board. But no, this is not a dart board, it’s Ezekiels Wheel. It’s beautiful. I love how Julia “robbed Peter to pay Paul” to create the wheel. The colors are actually much clearer.
Meet me at Giverney was pieced & quilted by Margaret Solomon Gunn. I was on the hunt for the quilt that won First Place in it’s category and found this one first. It took a little while longer to find Rainbow Nouveau to get a photo of that.
Margaret has mad quilterly skills and Rainbow Nouveau just rocks and the Blue Ribbon is well deserved.
Donna is a friend, coworker and student. I’ve been privileged to see this quilt progress over the last year or so. I’m in awe of Donna’s artistry. Donna also teaches at Hartsdale. I can hardly wait to see what Donna’s creative mine comes up with next.
Speaking of Hartsdale, there’s a small opening of time to sign up for Let Your Foot Loose be Fancy & Free on Friday April 5th. I love teaching this class and working with quilters on developing skill.
I’m very grateful for the opportunities that quilting brings. The opportunity to be on the faculty of a variety of shows and work with quilt shops and guilds is part of a dream come true. I look forward to meeting you and as Alex Anderson says, we quilters do meet! Over the next couple of months I’ll be:
Hartsdale Fabrics One day Free Motion Quilting 10/6 (yes, I got a Saturday class!)
Quilt Festival Houston TX Oct 31 – Nov 3 On Nov 1st I’ll be working in the Open Studio for 2 hours demonstrating quilted cards
Court House Quilters November 11 I’ll be there for a quilting class and lecture. I’ll be sending my Modern Quilt to them shortly.
Next year I’ll be at MQX East, AQS DesMoines, working on HMQS and a few other opportunities.
In the mean time I’m quilting for Jeanie Sumrall-Ajero and am eagerly awaiting our next competition quilt, and a few others and sneaking a few minutes here and there to work on a couple of my own quilts.
Coming up over the next few weeks I have interviews with lined up 4 quilters with a few more down the line. These quilters include: Linda M. Poole, Mickey DePre and several others. This weeks will be very fun as this quilter is doing a big reveal later this week.
I’ll be updating my class schedule. For my local peeps there is a class scheduled at Hartsdale Fabrics Friday March 23rd from 10 – 4. I’m actively working on several applications to teach in 2013 and will let you know as soon as acceptances come in.
As I gain more stamina and can get into the studio I’ll post pictures of quilts I’m working on. At this point about 20 minutes is about all I can do. It’s slightly frustrating cause I have quilts calling me to quilt and some designs & other work I want to get done. This has also reminded me how much we rely on our core muscles throughout the whole quilting process.
PS – I should be at the NJ Quilt show next Sunday. Hope to see you there!
Saturday Oct 1 Lecture/Trunk Show with a Wine & Cheese Reception 4 PM. The lecture is free, however we do need registration.
Sunday Oct 2 Workshop: Tequila Sunrise 10 AM – 4 PM Class is $89 with a kit fee of $32. The kit includes all of the fabric, batting & interfacing. We’re offering 2 color ways for the kit the first is similar to Paula’s and the second is Hawaiian Ocean colors!
Monday Oct 3 Workshop: Winter Holiday Kaleidoscope (see pic at left) 10 AM – 4 PM Class is $89 with a kit fee of $32, kit includes fabric, batting and a kaleidoscope ruler.
I hope because right now we need more people to sign up for the classes to go through.
Paula is an amazing teacher!
You might remember Paula was a guest on Simply Quilts episodes 330, 511 and 539. Paula is one of the quilterly influences in my life and as a result part of how I teach. Paula presented her “Fluff and Stuff” technique on Simply Quilts and I teach a modified version of what she presents.
All of the events will be located at Hartsdale Fabrics, 275 South Central Avenue Hartsdale, NY. We are located approximately 3 miles south of the County Center in White Plains and near all of the major highways going through Westchester County!
